American West Reunites Family

“American West: the builder that bring families together.”  That may sound like an advertising campaign, but it’s not. It’s how Kevin Loughton describes his family’s home buying experience with American West.

Kevin and his wife, Susan, recently purchased their dream home at American West Reserve in Coronado Ranch and in doing so created a permanent family reunion, so-to-speak. The Loughton’s new home is located just blocks away from their youngest son, Dustin, and his family and soon will be just down the street from their eldest son, Jason, and his family.

“We are a really close family, but we’ve been spread out all over. This gives us a chance to live close to one another again,” said Susan.

The Loughton’s, who currently live in Merced, Calif., came to Las Vegas regularly to visit their son Dustin who lives at American West Woodbridge in Coronado Ranch.  During a holiday visit, Dustin encouraged his parents to take a tour of one of American West’s newest model homes,  The Single Story with BRAG Space floor plan at American West Reserve in Coronado Ranch.

“We walked into the model and fell in love,” said Kevin.

“We said, ‘wow.’ Everything about the home is beautiful,” said Susan. “The homes are so elegant. American West adds the touch of elegance to the homes. They’re so hard to resist.”

The 2,518-square-foot home features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, formal living and dining rooms and an upstairs BRAG space. The BRAG Space is a new, innovative design unique to American West. The feature offers homebuyers additional living space in their new home. The BRAG Space in this home comes standard as one large bonus room. Homebuyers have the option for a guest suite with bath and spacious walk-in closet.

“That’s what’s so special about the house,” said Susan.

“It’s the space,” said Kevin. “Whoever designed this home did a real good job.”

The Loughton’s plan to use the upstairs guest suite configuration as their master suite and use the downstairs master suite as a guest room.

“We’ll have plenty of family coming to visit,” said Susan.

After the Loughton’s put down the down payment on their new home, their eldest son’s wife, Danielle, stopped by the model homes while on a business trip to take a look.

“She immediately called our son to tell him he had to see what you get for the money. So, Jason drove to Las Vegas that day. He said, ‘we can’t pass this up.’ And they put a down payment on a home down the street from us,” said Kevin.

Kevin and Susan Loughton are excited to enjoy the spacious designs, quality construction and beautifully-appointed architectural details that set American West homes apart.

“The gourmet kitchen. It’s a living space more than just a kitchen. It’s a place to be with family, have a cup of coffee,” said Kevin.

In addition to versatility, American West offers homeowners energy-efficient designs and uses energy saving materials and products in all their homes. American West’s energy-saving features come standard and include: 14-SEER natural gas heat and electric central air-conditioning with Puron®; energy-efficient radiant-heat barrier roof sheathing; protective house wrap that shields your home against air and moisture infiltration; vinyl-framed dual-paned low-e windows and sliding glass doors; quick-recovery natural gas water heater; and Moen® water-conserving faucets and showerheads.

The Loughton’s also chose to install a tank-less water heater. The tank-less water heater will deliver hot water on demand without continually heating water in a large tank.

“Every decision we’ve made with this home has been an enjoyable experience,” said Kevin. “Our sales agent Amy (Maestas) made it all easy. She’s so positive and full of energy. She’s really dedicated to helping her homebuyers every step of the way. She even emailed us photos of our lot when construction started.”

The Loughton’s expect to move into their new home in the beginning of summer and their son Jason and his family will move into their new home, Plan 3019, a few weeks after.

At 3,019 square feet, Plan 3019 is the largest home available at American West Reserve. The two-story home includes four bedrooms, 2 ½ bathrooms, formal dining and living rooms, a family room and a large upstairs game room. Options for this home include a guest suite in place of the third and fourth bedrooms and an additional bedroom in lieu of the upstairs game room.

Coronado Ranch is one of southern Nevada’s fastest-growing, most popular communities offering incredible convenience.  Located near the 215 Beltway, Coronado Ranch is minutes from recreational activities such as golf, hiking and cycling and seconds from enviable shopping and dining.

Celebrating Earth Day

Earth Day is Sunday, April 22nd. In celebration, we want to share some Environmental Tips with you.

  1. Use a programmable thermostat.
  2. Check to make sure you have no water leaks. Leaky faucets can waster thousands of gallons of water each year. Use water efficient faucets and showerheads.
  3. Buy compact fluorescent light bulbs. An ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) uses about 75 percent less energy than a comparable standard incandescent bulb.
  4. Remove yourself from junk mail lists. Visit www.GreenDimes.com
  5. If you use plastic grocery bags, recycle them. Better yet, use a reusable shopping bag.
  6. Recycle newspaper and magazines.
  7. Make sure the dishwasher is full before running. Don’t pre-rinse dishes – tests show it doesn’t improve cleaning.
  8. Buy and use a reusable water bottle.
  9. Take a 5-minute shower over a bath.
  10. Don’t let your car idle, turn it off.
  11. Wash full loads of laundry and use the cold water setting.
  12. Take your old computer, DVD player or other electronics to an electronics recycling center.
  13. Proper maintenance of appliances reduces waste. Follow the manufacturer’s suggestions for operation and maintenance.
  14. Recycle old batteries.

It’s something you need to see to believe,” said Canarelli. “As a builder, we understand that the kitchen is the heart of the home and where families spend most of their time.
